Many steakhouses allow you to pick your own steak. Alexander's let's you cook your own steak in the restaurant's large cooking pits. Of course, there is also the option to have the chef do the cooking for you. Along with the fine steaks, there is an all-you-can-eat baked potato, Texas toast and salad bar. The included salad bar has 45 choices of assorted fruits and vegetables. Homemade dressings make a perfect salad topping. For dessert there is the house specialty, the Skillet Cookie, a freshly made skillet-sized chocolate chip creation topped with ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and toasted almonds. A little more than eight miles from White Pines Forest State Park and located across the Rock River from Lowden State Park is the Blackhawk Steak Pit in Oregon, Ill.
