Portland, Oregon Historic Hotels
Just as Portland, Oregon, has been able to preserve the magnificent outdoor areas around the city, where outdoor enthusiasts enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities - ranging from hiking and camping to skiing and bike riding - the city of Portland has preserved many of the historic elements of the city since it was first incorporated in 1851. So, after a long day of invigorating exercise, there are a number of pleasant historic hotels to settle down in for a replenishing night.

The Governor Hotel

Located in downtown Portland, The Governor Hotel is a luxury hotel that provides easy access to a number of restaurants and nightclubs, as well as public transportation. With free wireless Internet, a Starbucks coffee shop, Jake's Grill - a Portland Favorite - and a fitness center (in case you didn't exhaust yourself during the day) all on-site, The Governor Hotel combines a historical setting with modern conveniences.

The Governor Hotel celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2009. Built as one of America's last "handmade" buildings, the interior and exterior have a unique arts and crafts-feel to them that many guests seem to appreciate.

The Heathman Hotel

The Heathman Hotel is the only hotel in Portland's designated Cultural District. Along with its impressive collection of art, The Heathman Hotel also offers guests access to its extensive movie and reading libraries. Other amenities include valet parking, shoe shining services, and a fitness center.

Named one of the "500 Best Hotels in the World" according to Travel + Leisure's most recent 2009 awards, The Heathman Hotel is on a lot of people's favorite lists, and AAA has awarded it four Diamonds for 24 consecutive years.

The single and double room rates range from $199.00 to $299.00, while the suites range in price from $269.00 to $1,500.00.
