Ahwatukee is located south of Phoenix near Chandler, Tempe and the Gila River Indian Reservation. South Mountain, the largest city-owned park in the country, separates Ahwatukee from the sprawl of Phoenix to the north and gives it the feel of a separate city. While nearby South Mountain offers many recreational opportunities with hiking, biking and horse trails, Ahwatukee offers many unique motor sport opportunities, including a motocross park, amateur and professional drag racing at Firebird International Raceway and the Bondurant School of High Performance Racing, Ahwatukee also is near several golf courses and convenient to the Tempe Diablo Stadium, where the Los Angeles Angels have their spring training camp. Ahwatukee hotels are located along interstate I-10. Although their addresses are listed as Phoenix, these hotels are located in Ahwatukee.
