McLean, Virginia, is an upscale suburb of Washington, D.C., home of the Central Intelligence Agency and a few embassies. But beyond the mansions and government offices lie a surprising number of recreational opportunities. On weekends you'll find D.C.'s elite jogging purposefully through wooded parks overlooking the Potomac River. On the river itself, members of rowing clubs skim over the water. Great Falls National Park even offers hiking trails. Next time you visit McLean, be sure to have done some research on the many hotel choices the city offers.

Hilton McLean Tysons Corner

Located near the intersection of the Beltway and Interstate 66, the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner is in a great location if you're looking to visit different areas of Washington, D.C. The nearest Metro station is about two miles away, but the hotel does offer local transportation, and bus routes are accessible nearby. Wi-Fi is available for a nominal fee, and the hotel has three restaurants and lounges open either early or late. Tysons Corner is one of D.C.'s major shopping centers, so you should be able to find whatever you need within about a mile of the hotel. For outdoor activities, however, you'll definitely want a taxi or your own car, which you can park there for free. Pets up to 75 lbs. are allowed for an additional fee.

The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner

If you just can't live without a little luxury, stay at the Ritz-Carlton. Sure, it's spendy, but the amenities can't be beat. In fact, this hotel was named one of the 50 top hotels in the United States by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. (see References 3) The hotel also offers a full-service day spa, just in case DC doesn't offer enough to keep you occupied. Towncar service can be arranged through the hotel. Since you're still far from the Metro, this may be a good option; however, buses run nearby as well. The hotel is also certified "Green" by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, so you can be assured that your money is going to good use.
