Attractions Near the Rock City Gardens in Georgia
Rock City Gardens, located at Lookout Mountain in Georgia, offers scenic mountain views, gardens and gnomes all year long. Families often flock to it in the warm months to check out flowers in bloom and to take tours of the trails; in the winter, they enjoy walking and riding through the Enchanted Garden of Lights. Unfortunately, touring the gardens only takes a few hours. But if guests have a long trip planned for the area, they are in luck to have several attractions nearby.

Ruby Falls

About five miles away from Rock City in Chattanooga, Tenn., is one of the area's most popular attraction, Ruby Falls---the nation's largest and deepest public waterfall. Here, guests of all ages can go underground to tour natural cave formations and the spectacular falls, as well as views of Lookout Mountain when they are above ground.

Incline Railway

Less than five miles away from the Gardens and also near Ruby Falls, visitors can ride up and down the side of Lookout Mountain. While on the ride, which is the world's steepest passenger railway, guests will see views of surrounding mountainous areas, valleys, downtown Chattanooga and maybe even the Great Smoky Mountains when weather conditions are clear. At the site is a visitor's center and a chance to tour the machine room.

Tennessee Aquarium

A little further away---about seven miles---from Rock City is the Tennessee Aquarium in Downtown Chattanooga. Children and adults will enjoy touring the multi-level facility that features a variety of sharks, penguins, frogs, otters and birds and butterflies. While on the tour, guests may be able to visit and touch some of the animals, like the sting rays. Also at the aquarium is an IMAX 3D theater.

Downtown Chattanooga

Near the aquarium and about six miles away from Rock City, guests can enjoy day and nighttime activities in downtown Chattanooga. During the day, they can visit one of the area museums, check out a minor league baseball game with the Chattanooga Lookouts and take a look inside the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel, restaurant and historic train. At night, they can take a ghost tour, hop on a riverboat ride along the Tennessee River and dine on barbecue or other southern dishes beside the river or at a quaint downtown restaurant.

Other nearby attractions include the Reflection Riding Arboretum & Botanical Garden and the Chattanooga Zoo in Chattanooga; the Lost Sea cavern tour in Sweetwater, Tenn.; Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tenn.; the Georgia Winery in Ringgold, Ga.; and the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn., among many others.
