Bower Hotels

The Bower Hotel was erected by a noble family during the Victorian Era. The hotel's location is an invitation to explore Oldham's countryside. The hotel is minutes from Hartshead Pike, a monument that overlooks all of Greater Manchester. Since its earliest days the hotel has undergone little renovation, so it stands today as it stood almost 200 years ago.

Most rooms give you a view of the hotel's secret garden. The hotel has 90 bedrooms and 28 larger-than-life bedrooms. The hotel's Sheridan restaurant serves choice dishes and wine. All rooms have cable TV sets, room service, tea and coffeemakers, and the traditional English trouser press. The executive rooms, meanwhile, have a desk space for your laptop.

The hotel has built a solid reputation for hosting big occasions in its conference rooms. The latest addition is its Henshaws Conference Centre. It has a lounge and a well-trimmed garden. Standard room rate starts at US$81 a night, while executive rooms are priced at US$92, as of November 2009.

Best Western Colonial Broadfield Park Hotel

What draws tourists to Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel is its proximity to the Broadfield Park and Rochdale's Town Center. Stretching 34 acres, you can take a stroll on Broadfield Park while taking in the sights of the old town.

The hotel is a few minutes from the M60 motorway. In all areas you get Wi-Fi, more so in its 29 Victorian bedrooms. This is in stark contrast to what is inside these rooms: flat-screen TV, tea and coffeemaker, plus all the modern-day comfort equipment. At any rate, the hotel offers a refuge to anyone who wants to check out the Manchester scene as it is barely 15 minutes away by car, where the world's most famous football team, the Manchester United, plays.

You get the royal treatment as you enter the hotel: You are welcomed by a huge hallway, with the main staircase having a 25-foot stained glass window portrait of Queen Victoria. Standard room rates start at US$86; executive rooms are priced at US$98.
