Chautauqua Lake

Located just minutes away from the city of Mayfield, Chautauqua Lake offers opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, boating and nature tours. Fishermen also prize this lake for its exceptional fishing for species like walleye, bass, panfish and more. Visitors can rent kayaks and canoes at the Chautauqua Marina, and public boating access and shoreline fishing are available at the Prendergast Point boat launch.

Allegany State Park

The 65,000-acre park Allegany State Park located near Point Pleasant and Mayfield features pristine forested valleys, low mountains, warm sand beaches and an abundance of native plants and wildlife. Popular with both cold and warm weather sports enthusiasts, Allegany State Park is a winter destination for cross-country skiers and snow mobile riders, and a summertime vacation area for hikers, bikers, fishermen, and birdwatchers. Campers and vacation travelers can also take advantage of both tent and cabin camping as well as comfortable cottage vacation rentals.

Lake Erie State Park

Lake Erie State Park is a popular New York recreation and vacation destination, offering a variety of outdoor activities and stunning natural surroundings. The park features more than 90 campsites and 10 cabins for extended-stay rental. Day visitors can take advantage of several swimming areas, sheltered picnic areas, hiking trails and birdwatching areas along the lake's edge, as well as cross-country skiing during the winter.

Mount Pleasant State Forest

Mount Pleasant State Forest offers a wide range of interesting outdoor recreational activities on 1,522 wooded acres in upstate New York. Nature lovers can enjoy fishing, hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and organized trail events throughout the year. The park's Fred J. Cusimano Westside Overland Trail runs through beautiful native hardwood forests and is open for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and mountain biking and hiking in spring, summer and fall.
