Italian food is known for its hearty portions; you will almost always come back home with leftovers. If you're not carb-conscious or calorie-conscious you may have a taste for Italian food after a day outdoors.

Leona's Restaurant

Leona's is a family-friendly restaurant. Sign up for their e-mail distributions and you will receive coupons via e-mail. Leona's start you with a roll of seasoned bread and butter, tries to fill you up on appetizers, and then hits you with the main course. Expect to pay about $30 per person for your meal assuming you do the full routine-appetizer, salad, entrée, dessert, beverage (other than water). The Hyde Park location is about one to two miles northwest of the Jackson Park Golf Course and the Museum of Science and Industry.

La Gondola Italian Restaurant

La Gondola is a great restaurant to go to for a romantic evening out with your spouse or with close friends. Reservations are required as the restaurant is small, but quaint. Parking is widely available given the restaurant is located within a strip mall and take-out is also an option. Consider this restaurant if you're shopping in the Lakeview or Lincoln Park community, or perhaps after playing a game or two of Whirlyball which is about two miles south of the restaurant.

Gioco

Located near Grant Park, the Museum Campus, and Soldier Field, Gioco is a storefront-looking facility that features homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza. Lunch is available Monday through Friday, brunch on Sunday, and dinner every day of the week. The restaurant seats 230 people, including a ballroom that accommodates 35-70 people. Valet parking is available for $10. Gioco offers a Prix Fixe lunch (dine-in only) during the week that includes an appetizer and pasta or Panini and dessert for $14.95. Alfresco dining is available if weather permits.

Café Spiaggia

Located across the street from Oak Street Beach and two blocks north of Water Tower and the John Hancock Observatory, Café Spiaggia is a scaled-down version of the dining room component, Spiaggia. Dress is casual; discounted parking is available for $14 at the One Magnificent Mile building. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner daily. Expect to spend at least $50 per person for dinner, $35 per person for lunch. Reservations are recommended.
