Calling the United Kingdom

To call the United Kingdom from the United States or Canada, you must first dial 011, the exit code for both countries. Next is 44, the access code for the United Kingdom. Then comes the area code and the seven-digit phone number. The (0) is not for international calls. It is used to dial from one area code to another within the country, the same way the number 1 is used in the United States.
