The medieval walled city of Nuremberg, Germany, is ideally explored on foot. Visit the Imperial Castle, perched high on a hill above Old Town, then climb the town's ramparts and take a 3-mile walk along the wall for outstanding views of the city. Hangman's Bridge, where the city executioner once lived, offers scenic views as well, and there are plenty of spacious parks to enjoy, such as City Park, where the locals relax, and the Castle Gardens.
