Hotels in Greenland

Hotels in Greenland
Home to the indigenous Inuit peoples and the site of the Aurora Borealis (northern lights), Greenland is a unique travel destination for people in search of adventure, icebergs, snow sports and outdoor activities. As the least densely populated country by square mile, it is tempting to assume that Greenland has little to offer when it comes to tourist accommodations. However, most Greenlandic towns offer multiple choices for lodging, ranging from luxurious four-star hotels to cheap youth hostels.

Hotel Arctic

Rated as a five-star hotel after the opening of its conference center in January 2009, Hotel Arctic is located at the edge of the Illuslissat Icefjord. The ford contains Sermeq Kujalleq, one of the most active glaciers in the world and a top natural tourist attraction. Hotel Arctic has a total of 87 rooms and five aluminum igloo cabins. Each of Hotel Arctic's rooms overlook Disko Bay and provide a television, radio and telephone. Rooms and suites located in the Kajak and Umiaq wings offer complimentary movies on DVD and wireless Internet. Restaurant Ulo and Café Ferdinand offer casual and fine dining options for Hotel Arctic guests.
