Ol' Heidelberg

A Huntsville institution since 1972, this restaurant is popular for its hearty food and cozy atmosphere. Popular appetizers include the sausage sampler and 12 escargot salad. Main dish favorites are veal, chicken and pork schnitzel as well as seafood and bistro style plates. Chef specialties include beef rouladen and goulash. Moreover, the restaurant has a tempting display case of beautifully decorated desserts, such as the black forest cake.

Schnitzel Ranch

The newest addition to the German restaurant scene, Schnitzel Ranch is a modest hole-in-the-wall cafe popular for the food's authenticity as well as the owner's and chef's hospitality. Menu items include schnitzels with a range of sauces, sausages, homemade spaetzle, potato and cucumber salads and imported Paulaner beer on tap. Patrons extol the authentic German-sized portions and ample sized beer glasses.

Hildegard's German Cuisine

A perfect respite after hitting the trails or touring the historic part of the city, step into this small homestyle eatery where patrons rave about the overflowing portions served with homemade bread. Menu favorites include the cold fleischsalat sandwich, hot reuben, Hildegard sandwich with three types of German meats on dark bread and the schnitzel platters.
