The Terrace Bay community is a small township in Ontario's Thunder Bay district in northern Canada, along the north side of Lake Superior. Nearby is the beautiful Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area. However, this doesn't diminish the fishing and hunting activities, as well as camping, hiking, skiing, kayaking/canoeing, and sightseeing. Once you are ready to unwind after a day of activities, there are several great motels in the area to suit your needs.

Imperial Motel

This motel is right in town, beside the Simcoe Plaza, on Highway 17. The 21 rooms feature air conditioning, coffeemaker and complimentary coffee, as well as a mini fridge, TV, and access to wireless Internet. The Coach House Motel

This motel is located on seven pristine acres of wilderness, boasting hiking trails and Terry Fox Beach on Jackfish Lake. All 14 rooms feature coffeemaker with complimentary coffee, mini fridge, microwave, satellite TV and free wireless Internet. The motel also has a restaurant, The Wilderness Café, and a gift shop. The motel is pet friendly.

Red Dog Inn

The Red Dog Inn is located in the town of Terrace Bay on Highway 17, boasting the only salad bar on the north shore of Lake Superior in its restaurant, which also features spectacular views of the lake. Newly renovated, the motel's 41 rooms offer coffeemakers, mini fridges, air conditioning, cable TV and wireless Internet. It also features a Pizza Hut Express. Despite its name, no dogs are allowed at the motel.

Jackfish Lake Motel

For an extended stay around Terrace Bay, the Jackfish Lake Motel offers several efficiency cottages with fully-equipped kitchenettes. Located along Highway 17, 20 km (12 miles) from Terrace Bay, the motel also has a gift shop, dining room with home cooked meals, a coffee shop and an authentic Finnish sauna.

The cottages feature two or three bedroom units, private baths, electric heat and are pet friendly. Nearby is Terry Fox Beach, as well as plenty of hiking, fishing, hunting and sightseeing locations.
