Kalamazoo, Michigan, remains a college town first but also welcomes visitors of all kinds who will enjoy the entertainment only a college town offers. Guests can eat dinner, play pool or air hockey and dance to the hottest musical hits at Kalamazoo's largest entertainment complex; they can sip martinis and try new dishes while watching local students and faculty perform or dance to country music and ride the bull at the saloon.

Wayside West

Premiering in 1959, Wayside West has expended in the last 15 years to become the largest entertainment complex in Kalamazoo. Spanning three levels, the complex's restaurant is located on the lower level; pool tables, air hockey and other arcades are on the second level; the dance floor and the VIP lounge are the third level. For sports fanatics, Wayside West also features over 20 televisions, including a 20-foot screen set. Patrons will find bars on the first and second levels. The complex specializes in appetizers, sandwiches and burgers, as well as offering discounted drink specials on each night. On Saturdays, patrons can order Long Island Ice Tea, Sex on the Beach or draft beer for $3.

Union Cabaret Grill

Located in the heart of Kalamazoo, the Union features only entertainment from Western Michigan University's students and faculty, giving it a homey atmosphere. Every December, Chef Eric Gillish bakes over 250 gingerbread houses and hosts a decorating event during weekends for $35 a house. Besides the entertainment, locals come to the restaurant to sample Chef Eric specialty dishes, including his portabella fries, which are breaded with Parmesan cheese and accompanied with a curried mustard dipping sauce. The restaurant also specializes in martinis and mojitos, such as a guava grapefruit mojito.

Wild Bull Saloon and Steakpit

For some more wild entertainment, guests may want to try the Wild Bull Saloon and Steakpit. The saloon features nightly musical entertainment Wednesdays through Saturdays, ranging from top 40 hits to the best country songs. Guests may also attempt riding the saloon's bull, El Guapo. For $5, they can buy unlimited rides all night, and children under 18 ride free with the purchase of dinner. The saloon specializes in its 8 oz. sizzler or 12 oz. strip steak, prepared with its signature bull sauce.
