Ohio lies immediately south of Lake Erie, the eleventh largest lake in the world. Lake Erie is known as the "Walleye Capital of the World". Lake Milton State Park has boating, swimming and fishing, a 1 1/4 mile long hiking trail, cross country skiing and ice fishing. Ohio has state parks all across the state. Super 8 Port Clinton is just one mile from the beaches on Lake Erie. The hotel is pet friendly with no weight restrictions. The fee is $10 per night per pet. Kids stay for free, there are both smoking, and non- smoking rooms, and an on site laundry. Amenities include a free breakfast, free high speed Internet, and cable TV. There is also free parking for cars, buses, RVs, and trucks, with free coffee. The hotel offers discounts for local fishermen. Rates at about $42.

Best Western Meander Inn

The pet friendly Best Western Meander Inn is just five miles from Lake Milton and just off I 80. The Inn allows up to two dogs under 30 lbs. The nightly fee is $10 for each. The hotel has regular guest rooms and luxury rooms with whirlpools. It features an on-site restaurant, meeting, and banquet rooms, outdoor pool, and an outdoor sport court. Amenities include a free continental breakfast, free parking, free USA Today, high speed internet, cable TV, in room movies, in room coffee makers and room service. Cribs, roll a ways, microwaves, refrigerators and adjourning rooms are available for an extra charge. Rates at about $69.

The Residence Inn Akron is a AAA Three Diamond Award winner. It is 100 percent smoking free and has a total of 112 suites, all with complete kitchens. The hotel features a 24 hour market, a meeting room, and on-site laundry, vending machines and an outdoor heated pool. Amenities include a free breakfast buffet, free coffee in the lobby and free coffee and tea in the suites, a managers reception, grocery shopping service, high speed internet, picnic area and video games. Pets are allowed for a non refundable fee of $75 one-time fee; $150 for the penthouse. There is no weight restriction or limit on the number of pets per room. Rates start at about $139.

Econo Lodge

The Econo Lodge has a total of 40 rooms, both smoking and non smoking, and is located right off I 76. The hotel features and indoor heated pool, and whirlpools in some of the rooms. Amenities include free continental breakfast, free coffee, free WiFi and in room refrigerators and microwaves. Pets are allowed for a nightly fee of $10 each. There is a limit of 2 per room, and they must be under 25 pounds.
Rates start at about $45.
