The western North Carolina community of Brevard is located at the entranceway to Pisgah National Forest, one of the first national forests established in the eastern United States. The town itself is home to Brevard College and offers numerous hiking, walking and biking trails throughout. The famed, winding 935 mile long Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) passes through Brevard with plenty of other outdoor activities including fishing, birding, camping, and biking in the area.

A number of fully furnished cabins can be rented in the Brevard area by the night, weekend or week, including several which welcome pets.

Ash Grove Resort Cabins & Camping

The cabins of Ash Grove are located just minutes from the town of Brevard, tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountains. One cabin, the Dogwood Den, accepts pets who must be current with their vaccinations, on flea management program, and be on a leash at all times. The Dogwood Den features a small kitchen with refrigerator, stove and sink, sitting area with gas log fireplace, and queen sized bed as well as a pull out full sized sleeper sofa. The campground area on the property welcomes pets as does the RV area. A bonfire pit, badminton court, horseshoe pit, and playground are on the premises; moderately easy walking and hiking trails can be reached from the grounds.

The Cabins at Seven Foxes

Located 13 miles west of Brevard, near Sylva, The Cabins at Seven Foxes feature five units with one or two bedrooms each located on seven natural acres. Individually decorated with antiques, each cabin features hardwood floors and walls; fully equipped kitchens with refrigerators, stoves, microwaves and sinks, gas fireplaces, linens and paper supplies, full and/or queen size beds, and an outside picnic table.

Housebroken dogs aged 15 months and older are welcome to stay in select pet friendly cabins. A $50.00 non-refundable fee, per pet, per stay, is charged, as of November 2009. Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest, Gorges State Park are nearby. Waterfalls, hiking trails, horseback riding, and rafting are among the many outdoor activities available.

Big Branch Cabins

About 11 miles south of Brevard is the five cabin Big Branch Cabins resort. Up to two small pets may stay at the Holly Ridge Cabin. Pet must be current on vaccinations, non-violent, and on a leash when on the premises. Unattended pets can only be left in the cabin if crated; no additional fee is charged for pet stays.

The pet friendly cabin features two queen beds; full kitchen with coffee, tea, sugar, and powdered cream provided; electric fireplace; paper products and linen service; rocking chair porch; and easy access to Big Branch Stream, Big Branch walking trail, and a picnic area with fire pit. Pisgah National Forest and state parks are nearby.
