Known as "Vermont's Little Grand Canyon," Quechee is an unincorporated village in Hartford, Vermont. Famous for its fall foliage and quaint surroundings, fans of the outdoors flock to Quechee State Park to camp, hike, picnic, and visit Quechee Gorge. The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) Nature Center in Quechee is also a favorite for nature lovers. A variety of restaurants featuring an assortment of types of food are in close proximity of all things outdoor in Quechee.

Simon Pearce Restaurant

Recipient of Wine Spectator Magazine's 2009 Award of Excellence, the restaurant's owner is artisan Simon Pearce, the name synonymous with American glassmaking. His glass shop is next to the restaurant, where he created the dishes and stemware for his restaurant. Every seat in the dining room has a fine view of a waterfall. The dinner menu features eight sumptuous entrees, including eggplant based vegetarian pasta. Business casual attire is acceptable. The establishment is adjacent to Quechee State Park.

The Farmer's Diner

Featuring fresh and many organic ingredients grown or produced by local farmers, about half of the menu consists of vegetarian dishes. The rest of the menu offers a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, and sides. One of the most popular items on the menu is the four egg Kitchen Sink Omelet, which comes with toast and home fries. This down home diner takes pride in its relationship with the farming community, as the menu explains. Dress is extremely casual. It is located right at Quechee Gorge.

Fire Stones Restaurant

This place is filled with atmosphere. You can enjoy wood-fired dining in all its rustic elegance, feast from the rooftop deck, or call ahead for takeout. Lunch consists of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and a variety of wood-fired flatbreads (pizza). The dinner menu includes such entrees as Rack of Lamb, Asiago Encrusted Cod, BBQ Danish Baby Back Ribs, and Fire Stones Sirloin Steak Tips. Fire Stones is located about 12 minutes from the Vermont Institute of Natural Science Nature Center.
