Granville Island is not really an island. It is a small peninsula accessed from downtown Vancouver by the Granville Street Bridge. Visitors to this popular area can still see its industrial history as a ship-building center in buildings that now house brew pubs, theaters, galleries and shops. The Public Market on Granville Island should be high on any visitor's list.

From Granville Island, visitors can arrange for a harbor tour or fishing expedition. Hikers, joggers and cyclists have easy access to the seawall walkway that offers spectacular views of downtown and the oceanfront.

A few minutes drive from Granville Island is the community of Kitsilano. This area known for its beachfront parks, eclectic restaurants and trendy shopping. In the heart of Kitsilano is the Corkscrew Inn. This small inn, of just five rooms, has private bathrooms, vintage furnishings, wireless Internet access and cable TV.
