Destin, known as "the world's luckiest fishing village," is on the northwest Florida coast. Destin comes by its name from Captain Leonard Destin who settled in Florida from New London in the mid-1800s. Destin's population of approximately 12,000 live on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay. Destin is a neighbor to Fort Walton Beach and approximately 50 miles from Panama City and Pensacola, Florida. Destin has some of the whitest sand in the world originating in the Appalachian Mountains. According to Wendy Schaefer with the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce, there are four desirable beachside motels.

Beachside Inn

The Beachside Inn has a café, coffee bar and two restaurants (Camille's is great for dinner) right on site. The Inn serves a free daily continental breakfast. Each of the rooms have a "beach" theme and equipped with a kitchenette. Beachside Inn is pet-friendly.

Beach access is just across the street from the Inn. You can also enjoy one of the two Inn pools or rent a bicycle to go for a self-guided tour. Rates are very reasonable with seasonal promotions.

Henderson Park Inn

Henderson Park Inn is next to Henderson Beach State Park and is a favorite with honeymooners or couples wishing a romantic getaway. Room furnishings are Victorian in this England-styled bed and breakfast with private terraces overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Some rooms come with a fireplace.

This adult-only Inn provides a full breakfast, as well as gourmet box lunches daily. You won't go hungry, as lemonade and cookies are available throughout the day. Every evening has a free cocktail hour. Bicycle and kayak rentals are complimentary.

Holiday Inn - Destin

Holiday Inn -- Destin is the family choice with the Inn's heavy emphasis on pleasing children. From Kid Suites offering a plentiful selection of video games to the "kids eat free" (12 and under with a paying adult) in the onsite Destin Café to the special activities provided by the Holiday Inn staff...your kids can stay occupied.

This 233-room Inn has two restaurants. The Destin Café serves breakfast and dinner while The Deck beachside grill serves American-style dishes.

Sea Oats Motel

The Sea Oats Motel is away from the hustle and bustle of activity with fully equipped kitchens and kitchenettes. Shopping, dining and area attractions are close by.

Each unit has a balcony on the beach. There is a heated swimming pool on site, along with laundry facilities (helpful when you go to the beach). The Sea Oats Motel does not accommodate pets.
