Mexican Pet Friendly Hotels

Mexican Pet Friendly Hotels
With more than 5,000 miles of beaches and warm winter temperatures, Mexico has many year-round vacation spots for you to enjoy the outdoors. Popular destinations include the Yucatan Peninsula, also known as the Riviera Maya, which includes Cancun and Playa del Carmen, and the Mexican Riviera on the Pacific Coast between Ensenada and Acapulco. Tourists also frequent central destinations like Copper Canyon and Mexico City. If your dog is hiking the Mexican trails, too, you'll need some pet-friendly accommodations.

New Port Beach Hotel

This is an oceanside hotel just eight miles south of downtown Rosarito where dogs are welcome and the atmosphere is great for families or romantic couples. Not far from the U.S. border at San Diego, on Mexico's Pacific Coast, the beach community of Rosarito is a relaxed and attractive destination with plenty of outdoor activities.Stick to the coast and hike the beach and low bluffs, or travel inland and hike the mountains behind Rosarito. Play golf at nearby Bajamar course, or go canoeing or kayaking, snorkeling or diving, body surfing and bike riding. The Rosarito-Ensenada 50 Mile Bike Ride happens each spring, taking riders from Rosarito, along the coast, then inland to a big party in Ensenada. The New Port hotel sits beside the village of Puerto Nuevo, known for its fresh lobster restaurants. The hotel is popular for affordable, oceanside weddings and concert events. The New Port offers gourmet Mexican dining, poolside snacks and cocktails. Readers of Baja Magazine chose the New Port's buffet as the best in Baja. All 147 of the guest rooms have an ocean view, and you must request a non-smoking room. As of November 2009, off-peak rates are $70-$189/night and peak rates are $70-$215/night; there is a $25 fee for each dog (all prices are subject to change). The New Port has room service, a gift shop, gated parking, spa services, free Internet access and meeting rooms. After a long day on the trail, relax and enjoy some cocktails and live entertainment from the hotel band in the lobby bar. On weekends, catch the brunch buffet where kids under 12 eat for half price. The hotel has hosted the International Kennel Club's Obedience Trials, with 200 dogs competing. On the hotel website, see the "Petiquette" page for the hotel's dog policies such as the two dog per room maximum, no-dogs-allowed areas and picking up after them.
