Hotels in Topsail Beach, North Carolina
The southernmost of the three towns on 26-mile-long Topsail Island, Topsail Beach takes its name from bygone merchants who used to look for the top of the sails of pirate ships roaming the area. These pirates, including the notorious Blackbeard, would rob merchant ships and claim the cargo as their own.

Today, the drama of yesteryear has faded, but not the beauty inherent in the island. From North Topsail Beach through Surf City and into Topsail Beach itself, beauty rules with strict restrictions on what can be built and how high. Once the home to an important military facility, the Topsail Beach area now features the only sea turtle hospital in the state.
