The small town of Bastrop, Texas, is at the juncture of State Routes 71 and 95, about 35 miles from Austin, the state's capital. The National Register of Historic Places named Bastrop "Most Historic Small Town in Texas." Named "Best B & B in Bastrop County" from 2004 through 2007, the Pecan Street Inn, a turn-of-the-century Victorian structure situated on a sprawling green lawn, is close to downtown Bastrop. The inn can accommodate as many as 15 guests in its various bedrooms and suites. Guests can opt for a gourmet breakfast in the inn's dining room or continental breakfast served in their room. Kitchen privileges are also extended to all travelers. Bastrop's Pecan Street Inn is pet-friendly and has no set size or breed limits, accepting pets and assessing deposits on a case-by-case basis. Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa

The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa will open its doors to you and your furry friends. This luxury resort permits two pets per room of up to 25 lbs., although pets that are slightly larger might be permitted if you get prior permission. Lost Pines features 492 Wi-Fi-equipped guest rooms and five restaurants, along with a pool, spa, fitness center, golf course, flower gardens and access to walking trails. Pets are not allowed near the pool or restaurant areas, but have full access to the resort as long as they are on leashes.

The Bastrop Inn

The Bastrop Inn accepts dogs and cats of all sizes on a case-by-case basis. This value hotel features 32 single and double rooms, each equipped with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Children under the age of 10 stay free. The hotel's primary condition: pets must be housebroken.

The Comfort Inn is pet-friendly, welcoming cats and dogs without limitation as to size or breed. The hotel consists of 42 double and single rooms, each furnished with refrigerators, Wi-Fi access, and microwaves and flat-screened televisions. The hotel also features a pool area. Loblolly Pines Village

The rustic, pet-friendly Loblolly Pines Village opens its doors to guests with an affinity for the great outdoors. Located six miles from Bastrop proper, these accommodations are situated on 38 acres of walking and biking trails, 5 miles from the entrance to Bastrop State Park and 2 miles away from Lake Bastrop. Loblolly Pines Village has 32 guest rooms and suites, each with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and cable TV. The resort also offers tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and a swimming pool. The cafe serves breakfast and lunch on weekends only.

Best Friends Boarding Kennel

With all of the pet-friendly lodging facilities Bastrop has to offer, you're almost certain to find a place to hang your hat and leash. But should you wish to stay in a hotel that doesn't permit pets, Best Friends Boarding Kennel is a handy option. The kennel, located in the neighboring town of Rosanky (15 miles from Bastrop), has separate facilities for dogs and cats, and also welcomes more exotic pets, such as birds and reptiles. Best Friends also plans to open a second location in Cedar Creek in late 2009. Call in advance to make reservations for your pet.
