Elkton, Virginia is a town of about 2,900 residents that sits in the Shenandoah Valley in the northwest part of the state, according to the town's website. It is close to Shenandoah National Park and Monongahela National Forest. It is approximately 136 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. and 38 miles northwest of Charlottesville. One of the local attractions is the Miller-Kite House Museum which once served as the headquarters to General Stonewall Jackson. The museum houses items from the Civil War era.

Although this resort isn't located within Elkton, it is located a mere five miles away from town. The resort features a number of activities, including ski slopes, an indoor/outdoor water park, golf courses and a spa. There are various places to dine and the resort offers special meals, such as a Beer Lovers Dinner, a Winemakers Dinner and a Murder Mystery Dinner. Also, you can use the resort to book activities such as horseback riding and canoeing. Regular hotel-style rooms or condos are available. Lewis Mountain Cabins

These cabins are located within the park, so you'll need to purchase a park pass to enter. Single and double room cabins with showers are available. A sheltered fire pit provides a place to cook and a camp store for supplies is located nearby. The rooms are minimally furnished and are only available between April and November.
