Old New York
The owners of the former Schnitzels in Bellefonte (which tragically burned down in 2006), opened Old New York in State College, Pennsylvania. The menu is designed as a tribute to the "olde" neighborhoods of New York. Authentic German fare includes an outstanding selection of brats and schnitzels.

Herwig's Austrian Bistro
Herwig's in State College is Austrian, not German, but the cuisine of the two neighboring countries is similar. Herwig's has a reputation for high quality and was rated the top ethnic restaurant in the area three consecutive years by readers of State College Magazine. To maintain freshness, the menu at the BYOB establishment changes regularly depending on what's available, but regular features include Weinerschnitzel (traditional pan-fried pork dish), Geschnetzeltes (pork or veal with mushrooms, sour cream and dill sauce), Zwiebelrostbraten (thinly sliced New York strip with caramelized onions) and many assortment platters.
