Oster Malma
Oster Malma might not be your first choice of lodging, but the home of the Swedish Association of Hunting and Wildlife Management is a beauty to behold. The house stands tall and erect, straight out of the Victorian era (17th century), with tall glass windows and a gravel drive. There are guided tours of the estate and a bird and wildlife watch. Inside Oster Malma is a permanent art exhibition featuring the best wildlife artists from this section of the world. With 43 rooms and 88 beds, the estate is worth your time.

Hotel Lanterna
The Hotel Lanterna is another fabulous local Swedish hotel. Located right in the Nykoping harbor, a room here will place you as close to the waterfront as you can get and still only a short walk to the town center. This gives you plenty of outdoor activities and a chance to soak up the local culture. The Hotel Lanterna is an ideal choice if you are flying in from the Stockholm Skavsta Airport. Inform the staff if you have any allergies. Some rooms use environmentally friendly materials, such as horsehair in the mattresses.

Horsvik Hotel
The Horsvik Hotel always keeps its guests close to the outdoors. Simply by walking outside, you are close to the Stendorren nature reserve and, in the opposite direction, the serene waves crashing into the coast of Sormland. The rooms, while not state-of-the-art, are equipped with beds, televisions and a bathroom. Some amenities include a sauna, billiards, darts, a fitness room and a bike that you can borrow. Sometimes having less is more. With fewer touches of the modern world, the Horsvik Hotel lets you relax in a way you may have forgotten was possible: in solitude.
