Fleming's Prime Steakhouse
Just a 10-minute drive from Mayfield Park, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse prides itself on a stylish and contemporary restaurant style, and a great selection of southwest and American-style foods. Start your meal with an appetizer that shows off the south's love of spicy foods, like "wicked" Cajun barbeque shrimp or sweet chili calamari. The long list of prime meat entrees includes a filet mignon burger with sautéed mushrooms and béarnaise sauce, an ahi tuna burger in soy ginger sauce and several steak and seafood choices. Fleming's has two locations in Austin, one downtown and one in the Domain area on Century Oaks Terrace. Hours are Monday through Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Saltgrass Steak House
Also a quick drive from Mayfield Park is the Saltgrass Steak House near the Arboretum in Austin. The original Saltgrass Steak House opened along the Salt Grass Trail once used by ranchers to drive cattle to graze on coastal salt grass for the winter. Today's Saltgrass Steak House aims to keep that old ranch and campfire-style atmosphere with good Angus beef steaks made any way you like over an open fire and old-style recipes such as Shiner Bock beer bread. Hill country salad with lightly fried chicken and a Texas cheesesteak sandwich are also on the menu. Desserts are all homemade. Saltgrass has another location in Austin off I-35. Call for operating hours.
