Grand Rapids is in Michigan's western Lower Peninsula. It is the second-largest city in Michigan and is on the Grand River. Lake Michigan's beaches are 30 miles west of the city. The city has parks and hiking trails, and Millennium Park has a beach and swimming area, biking and walking trails, and places to picnic. Grand Rapids has winter activities, including ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle downtown and downhill skiing is less than a 30-minute drive. It offers a variety of hotels to choose from.
