Small Tours
There are many small, local bus tour operators in Juneau. Having a local who knows the area and history can make for an intimate tour. Many local bus tours incorporate areas sought after into their complete tours. Ask beforehand. Highlights of these tours include the Mendenhall Glacier, the state capitol building, governor's mansion, Auke Bay and Douglas Island.

Corporate Bus Tours
Many visitors to Juneau arrive on cruise ships. These ships offer their own bus tours and often times include most of the highlights on the drives. Booking a bus tour off the cruise ship assures that if the tour runs late, you won't be left behind as the ship will wait for you. If you do not arrive via cruise ship and still want to take a larger, more corporate bus tour, you have the option of booking with Holland America/Gray Line (See Resources) online or at the booking desk in most Juneau-area hotels. Ask your concierge or desk clerk if you need help.

Custom Tours
Smaller mini-vans that double as taxis are a great custom bus tour option for Juneau. If you are looking for a custom tour, there are several tour companies that can offer this, as well as the taxi operators. Having a private coach for the day can give tremendous opportunities for seeing the "local knowledge" stuff typically not visited by the larger tour groups. A local, custom tour also allows more time for small hikes and photo opportunities.
