And when you're ready for a bite to eat, check out one of these local dining hot spots.

Anthony Jack's Wood Fired Grill

Anthony Jack's offers a "casual yet sophisticated" dining experience in downtown Southington. They are closed on Tuesdays, but offer both lunch and dinner the rest of the week.

The menu features a variety of meat options, including wood-fired steaks and seafood, as well as chicken, pork, pasta and sandwiches. Vegetarians will have to stick with a house salad, a Caesar salad, or one of two vegetarian-friendly sandwiches: grilled eggplant or Portobello and bleu cheese.

Anthony Jack's offers daily specials as well as private functions up to 130 people. Reservations are recommended.

Wood 'n Tap Bar and Grill

This Connecticut staple offers more burgers than perhaps is healthy. From bison burgers to "Ken's Favorite"--bleu cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and mayo--there is no lack of meat in this hot spot. Besides burgers, there are wraps, burritos and chicken sandwiches, as well as pizza, pasta and salads. The "Grill-n" menu offers grilled fish, chicken, ribs or steak.

The beer, wine and cocktail menu varies by location. The Southington branch offers more than a dozen beers on tap, including Sam Seasonal, Ten Penny Ale, Smithwick's, Blue Moon Seasonal and Hooker Seasonal. If you want a Bud or Bud Light you'll have to order a bottle.

There is also a kids' menu and several private party options, including formal dinners or theme buffets.
