Costa Vida is a Mexican restaurant with locations in eight different states. The South Portland, Maine location offers the same traditional menu that all of the other locations feature. All of Costa Vida's restaurants offer a quick, counter service meal with food that is prepared from scratch each day for maximum freshness. There are salads, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas and nachos that are made to order. Patrons can choose from six meats or a vegetarian option. Costa Vida is well known for their shredded sweet pork which is slow roasted daily for four hours.

On the Border Mexican Grill and Cantina is a traditional tex-mex restaurant chain with a location in South Portland, Maine. As of November 2009, the South Portland location is the only location in the state. This well known restaurant is appealing for both travelers and locals who wish to dine on familiar menu items. On the Border is known for its popular combo meals, in which guests can create their own combo of tacos, enchiladas, salads, soups, tamales, empanadas and flautas. For those with a taste for spicy foods, the Firecracker Stuffed Jalepenos are an excellent choice. The restaurant's Chocolate Turtle Empanadas lend a decadent finish after a hearty Mexican meal.

Margarita's Mexican Restaurant

Margarita's is an original Mexican restaurant concept that was founded in 1985. Though there are many locations, Margarita's of Portland, Maine was voted the "Best Place to Meet Friends" and "Best Mexican Restaurant" by Portland Magazine in 2003. Margarita's offers authentic Mexican inspired cuisine including shrimp quesadillas, jerk chicken fajitas and the famous tequila cilantro chicken. Margarita's offers a menu for all interests, including vegetarians. Above all, the restaurant is known for their six flavors of frozen and shaken margaritas.
