The Upper Crust
Local chain The Upper Crust has been named the Boston area's best pizza almost every year since the first branch opened on Beacon Hill in 2001. The restaurant's reputation rests on its thin-crust pizzas (white or whole wheat) topped with high-quality ingredients and baked in a wood fire, but salads, pasta dishes and sandwiches are available as well. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant can be crowded on weekend nights, but reservations are not accepted. Word to the wise: Whole pies tend to be fresher than individual slices.
