Steak Restaurants in Vancouver

Steak Restaurants in Vancouver
Vancouver, Wash., has many great restaurants, with several of them specializing in steaks. Three are known for their steaks, good service and a nice atmosphere---all at a reasonable price. Bill's Chicken & Steakhouse, Billygan's Roadhouse and Stuart Anderson's Black Angus each have their own charm and appeal.

Casual Dining at Bill's

Bill's Chicken & Steak House is the oldest of the three and has been a staple in Vancouver since 1965. Its longevity attests to its popularity; you don't survive that long by being average. Like the name says, the menu offers chicken and steak. You'll also find a good assortment of seafood.

Try a juicy 6-, 8- or 12-ounce sirloin, or a tasty 7-ounce bacon-wrapped filet mignon, rib eye in 10- and 14-ounce servings or some prime rib (in five sizes). All dinners come with soup or salad, a dinner roll and your choice of potato (baked, mashed, fries) or rice pilaf.

The clean and brightly lit dining room has been nicely updated. The low-back booths are somewhat crowded and offer little privacy but allow for the creation of new friendships. This is not white-linen romantic dining, but you'll love the food. Bill's is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Call ahead for reservations, banquets or catering. Roadhouse Fun at Billygan's

Billygan's Roadhouse is much what you'd expect from a place with such a name---loud, fast-paced and peanut shells cast about the floor. What you might not expect is a good steak, but that's what you get and a whole lot more. Of course, it has great burgers along with chicken, ribs and a short list of seafood, too.

Billygan's offers a delicious 6-ounce top sirloin plain or with bleu cheese, cracked pepper or teriyaki. Try a 10-ounce New York or rib eye. Rib eyes come in three varieties: regular, whiskey and the Texas with mushrooms and onion. It also has a 7-ounce filet mignon and a 16-ounce T-bone. After 4 p.m. a specially seasoned and slow-roasted prime rib is available in any size you like, or why not try a half or whole rack of smoky baby back ribs?

Steaks, chicken and seafood dinners are served with homemade sweet rolls and honey butter and your choice of two sides: a deluxe salad, a Caesar salad, soup, a baked potato, fries, mashed potatoes, a baked sweet potato, rice pilaf, steamed broccoli, sautéed vegetables or macaroni and cheese.

Billygan's is a fantastic place to let your hair down and have a good time. The service is fast and friendly; yes, you can throw your peanuts shells on the floor. It is open for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday; lunch is daily until 4 p.m.; dinner until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It's not the kind of place where you make reservations, but you can call ahead for to-go orders.

Elegant Ambience at Stuart Anderson's

Stuart Anderson's Black Angus is the classiest of the three establishments and the perfect place for a romantic evening. The rustic country elegance, the semi-private high-backed horseshoe booths, attentive wait staff and the delicious food all add to the charm.

Among the offerings are mouth-watering top sirloin, rib eye, New York strip; and seasoned, seared and slow-roasted prime rib. All cuts come from aged black angus beef and are served with plenty of delicious molasses bread and any two of 16 sides. An array of sandwiches---including a Philly cheese steak---salads, baby back ribs, chicken and seafood dishes round out the menu.

Black Angus is open for dinner only from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays. Reservations are strongly suggested during peak hours. Sign up for discount coupons with the Prime Club on the website.
