Hotels in Alton, Staffordshire
Alton, Staffordshire is in some of the best walking country in the U.K. The village of Alton is on the east side of Churnet Valley, with National Trust woods, gorges, lots of wildlife and hiking trials up spectacular rocks. The theme park, Alton Towers, is also nearby. Alton is supposed to be one of the most haunted villages in England, with several of the pubs and hotels reporting ghosts, as well as the ghost of a man, wearing old fashioned clothes, seen riding through the fields. So be careful when you book your hotel, or you might see more than you bargained for.

Bull's Head Inn

The best thing about the Bull's Head Inn though is the public bar complete with oak beams, a big fireplace and country style restaurant. There are some wonderful walks in the Churnet Valley and you can also get to the Peak District National Park in just a few minutes.
