French Restaurants in Carmel, Indiana
Carmel, Ind., was home to Delaware (Miami) Indians and French and English fur traders in the 1830s. The city incorporated under the new name of "Carmel" in 1874, with 45 people voting in the election. Carmel today is home to PGA golf tournaments, city symphony orchestra and the "Tour de Carmel" cycling event. The River Road Greenway, Monon Trail and numerous parks may be found within the city boundaries. The early French heritage is carried on in the city's French restaurants and cafes.

Bistro de Paris

The Bistro de Paris is located in Carmel's Arts and Design District. Authentic French offerings are created for brunch, lunch and dinner. The lunch menu features quiche, seafood crepes and mixed salads. Brunch offers stuffed French toast, seafood and omelets. All menus offer several dishes for strict vegetarian tastes. Dinner includes surf and turf, chicken and salmon. The wine list includes French wines and also a selection of American, Australian, German and Chilean wines. Port and Cognacs also are regularly served. The restaurant is available for private parties. Brunch hours are 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Dinner hours during the week are 5 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Dining hours Friday and Saturday begin at 5 p.m. and end at 10:30 p.m. The bar closes 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and at midnight Thursday through Saturday.

Deeter's Nasch & Nip and The Glass Chimney

The Glass Chimney and Deeter's Nasch & Nip offer both French and German cuisine. The Glass Chimney, the candlelit, upscale dining room, is located next to Deeter's, which is for diners opting for a more casual setting to enjoy many of the same dishes. Specialities include beef, seafood, poultry and quiche. Deeter's has an expanded appetizer menu. Both dining establishments have a full bar serving hard liquor, wine and beer. Deeter's is open for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and for dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Glass Chimney is open for dinner Monday through Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are accepted at both establishments.

La Mie Emilie

La Mie Emilie, a patisserie and French cafe, serves crepes, French toast, fresh croissants and quiche Lorraine on the regular brunch menu. These items are available at any time. Sandwiches and salads are also served. These are made fresh when the order is placed. Vegetarian dining options are available, including the Salade Nicoise. Pastries and dessert offerings include tarts, ganache, ice cream, cake and mousse. French coffee blends, chocolat chaud, espresso drinks and bottled French lemonade are regular offerings. The cafe is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday through Saturday, the cafe is open until 9 p.m. Sunday hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
