Siesta Key is a barrier island located in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the coast of Sarasota, Florida. This eight-mile-long island offers many outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and hiking. There are many golf courses within a half hour ride. Siesta Key is well known for its powdery white beaches and dramatic sunsets. If you want to take your pet along with you to Siesta Key, there are many things to do with your pet and several pet-friendly hotels.

Turtle Beach Resort

Turtle Beach Resort is an oceanfront property with charming studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom cottages next to the water, each with its own outdoor hot tub and private patio. Guests enjoy the use of bicycles, kayaks and canoes and have full kitchens and laundry rooms. Complimentary sherry and robes are provided for guests. All cottages have wireless high-speed Internet, CD players, irons and hairdryers, plus absolute essentials for the serious vacationer such as blenders, beach chairs and umbrellas.

Turtle Beach Resort does not have any pet size restrictions but has a two-dog maximum. The resort charges an extra pet fee and allows pets in the bayside cottages.

Tropical Shores Beach Resorts

The Tropical Shores and Tropical Sun resorts are members of the same resort family. They are a short walk to Crescent Beach and do not offer any water views. These resorts are located at the midpoint of Siesta Key, offering easy access to both the north and south ends of the island. They have large swimming pools and bicycle, kayak and boat rentals are located nearby. The Sara Seas resort is the third member of the Tropical Shores Beach Resort community. It is considered their premiere resort and caters to couples. All rooms have kitchen facilities,hair dryers,irons and free wireless Internet. Room sizes range from mini efficiencies to two-bedroom suites.

The resort has a limited number of pet friendly rooms available. Pre-approval is required. Mention you are traveling with a pet when you make your reservation. There is a non-refundable pet fee. Pets are not allowed on the beach and must be on a leash when outside of the room. They must be crated if left alone in the room.

Banana Bay Club

The Banana Bay Resort has two locations. One property is located just a one minute walk to Crescent Beach; the other property is located on Heron Lagoon. They are approximately a mile and half apart. Accommodations range from studios to multi-bedroom cottages. Rentals are available on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Both properties are non-smoking. Guests can swim in one of the heated pools or take advantage of free canoes and kayaks. Then they can relax while fishing off the private dock or enjoy the free Internet and cable television available in all guest rooms.

Pets are welcome at both Banana Bay Resorts. There is a small pet fee.
