Inexpensive Hotels in Venice, Italy

Inexpensive Hotels in Venice, Italy
Visitors to Italy will be awed by the unique spirit and beauty of Venice. Situated on a network of canals, the magnificent views in this ancient city may seem familiar, since throughout its long and distinguished history the city has been depicted in art, films and travel brochures. In Venice, there is a wide range of hotels to choose from, including some that are surprisingly inexpensive.

Locanda di Orsaria

The Locanda di Orsaria is located in the Canareggio neighborhood near the Grand Canal, Santa Lucia train station and St. Mark's Square. Situated in a charming 16th-century building, the hotel has had an interesting history as a tavern since 1850.

Guests will enjoy concierge service offering information about Venice tourist destinations. High-speed Internet access (for a fee) and airport transportation are available. Guest rooms are air conditioned and offer satellite TV. A complimentary breakfast buffet is included and guests can have a drink at the hotel's lounge or drink coffee in the lobby.

Hotel Panorama

The Hotel Panorama is set in Lido's shopping and dining district, where the atmosphere is more casual and perhaps less expensive than in Venice proper. The hotel offers lagoon views and is a 10-minute walk to the beach. Hotel décor creates a stately ambience with gold-accented, beige marble flooring, pale yellow walls and Murano glass light fixtures.

Visitors will enjoy a complimentary European breakfast, and a bar serves cocktails and espresso. Guest services include currency exchange, dry cleaning and tour assistance. Guestroom amenities include minibars, safes and original Impressionist-style paintings. The hotel lobby provides high-speed Internet access, and business travelers can use the fax and photocopy services.

Hotel Pausania

The Hotel Pausania offers 26 air-conditioned rooms overlooking the San Barnaba Canal. Situated in a 14th-century Venetian palace, the hotel still has many of its original architectural features, including the original gothic façade and stone staircase. Guestrooms offer views of the private courtyard gardens or the canal, and feature cable TV, minibars, direct-dial telephones and Internet connections.

Breakfast is offered on the veranda overlooking the garden, and guests are invited to have drinks in the garden. Tour assistance is available, while excursions to Murano and guided tours of Venice can be arranged. Hotel Pausania is a 20-minute ride from the Marco Polo Airport.
