Latham is in Albany County, New York, right near route 87, the Adirondack North Way and the road to Adirondack State Park. Latham is also close to the Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve, a 600-acre preserve that is part of the Mohawk Towpath Byway. The preserve is on the banks of the Mohawk River, which empties into the Hudson, 150 miles north of New York City. The river has falls and rapids that make it a challenge for kayaking and canoeing. The Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway is also nearby.
