Bus Trips to Philadelphia From New York
Bus travel options from New York to Philadelphia include the no-frills Chinatown buses, the newer companies Bolt and Megabus, and the established standbys, Greyhound, and Peter Pan. Most of the two hour trip is on the New Jersey Turnpike. On the Chinatown buses, baggage is stowed under the bus on a space available basis, at the passenger's own risk. One child under two per adult travels free on all lines.

Buses leave from Port Authority Bus Terminal at 625 Sixth Avenue, New York, New York, 10036 and arrive at the Greyhound Bus Station at 1001 Filbert Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107. Fare is $13.00, with special fares for seniors, children, students and military. Tickets can be bought online, by phone, or at the station. Bicycles, skis, and ski poles must be packed in wood, canvas or other substantial containers, and securely fastened. There is a $20.00 to $30.00 charge for pieces over 62 inches.

Peter Pan

Buses leave from Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York and arrive at the Greyhound Bus Station in Philadelphia. Fares range from $12.00 to $14.00, with special fares for seniors, children, students and military. Tickets can be bought online or at the station. Bicycles are accepted as baggage on a space available basis. Bicycle boxes are sold for $15.00 at the terminal.

Buses leave from 34th Street and Eighth Avenue, by the Tick Tock Diner, in New York, and from 6th Avenue between Grand and Watts in Lower Manhattan. Buses arrive at the Cherry Hill Mall, and at 30th Street between Market and Chestnut in Philadelphia. Tickets vary greatly in price, depending upon how far in advance they are purchased. They can be bought online, by phone, or in person. Buses are equipped with wireless Internet connections, and electrical outlets. A bicycle is counted as the one piece of luggage allowed.

Megabus leaves from the corner of 31st Street and Eighth Avenue, next to Penn Station in New York, and arrives at the 30th Street Station between Market Street and N.Sixth Street in Philadelphia.
