Stevenson, Washington is a great city for outdoor enthusiasts. It is located right along the Columbia River near the ocean, so there are lots of nearby water activities such as hiking trails, biking, camping, fishing, golfing, bird-watching, hunting, kayaking, mushroom hunting, rock climbing, spelunking, whitewater rafting, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.

Skamania Lodge

Skamania Lodge is a very large lodge (over 200 rooms) right near the Columbia River Gorge scenic area in a very large forested area. Guests who like hiking will enjoy over 70 nearby waterfalls and over four miles of hiking paths on the hotel property alone. The highway along the Columbia Gorge is a popular place for scenic biking, and the hotel fitness center has adult bicycles available for guests.

Golfers can enjoy the 18-hole golf course at the lodge. The hotel itself has a pool, whirlpools, saunas, tennis courts and a volleyball court, so it is easy for guests to be active without even leaving the lodge. According to the hotel's website, it also has a spa and fitness center, which are open daily.

All rooms in the hotel either come with a mountain view or a view of the Columbia River, and they feature pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TVs, artwork, ergonomic desk chairs, coffee makers, video games, Internet access and windows that open. There is a conference center, which is ideal for business or large family gatherings. The lodge has a restaurant with Pacific Northwest cuisine and there is a buffet on Friday nights. Room prices, as of 2009, usually start at a little over $100 per night.

Columbia Gorge Riverside Lodge

As the name suggests, the lodge is near the river, and there is kayaking, fishing, whitewater rafting, windsurfing and swimming (summer only) available at the river close to the hotel. There are also nearby hiking and biking trails, and golf courses a short drive away. According to the hotel's website, other nearby attractions include berry picking (end of summer), wine tasting, camping and exploring museums, hot springs and Mount St. Helens.

The Columbia Gorge Riverside Lodge is a small Lodge, with eight studios inside of four log cabins. The log cabins provide a cozy and rustic feel, and rooms have no televisions or phones. The lodge itself has a meeting space for family gatherings and conferences, which rents for $75 to $150 per day. Massage services are also available with advance appointments. All rooms are studios and cost $79, $99 or $199 per night, as of 2009. The lodge lets guests bring pets in all rooms.

Rodeway Inn

The Rodeway Inn is a Stevenson, Washington hotel near the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, Beacon Rock State Park, the Bonneville Lock and Dam, and Multnomah Falls. The Skamania County museum and a marketplace are a half mile away. Hot Springs Golf Course is four and a half miles away, so golfers can easily drive a short distance to play a round of golf. It is also a 45-minute drive away from Portland International Airport. This Inn is not on the river, but it is near a state park with hiking trails and a short drive from the river and its activities.

The hotel offers free breakfast, free parking, free coffee, fax services, copy services, laundry facilities and some rooms with refrigerators and microwaves. It does not have its own restaurant, but there are restaurants nearby. Hotel rates, as of 2009, start at $65 per night.
