Beast
Beast may look plain from the outside, but don't be deceived. Beast is a hip, mind-numbingly delicious restaurant that is packed almost every day of the week. Offerings are nothing if not elaborate--take the charcuterie plate, which includes: Foie-Gras Bon-Bon, Sauternes Gelee, Steak tartare and quail egg toast, Chicken liver moussee, pickled shallot pork, and a combination pork liver, pistachio and sour cherry pate. Oh, and don't forget: a glass of 2006 Bott--Geyl Pinots D'Alsace Metiss as well. Located in northeast Portland in the Concordia neighborhood, Beast is a few blocks from the Alberta park. Diners can catch a $3 movie at the Kennedy School down the street to offset the cost of the meal: expect to spend $60 or more per person at Beast.

Le Happy
Downtown's Le Happy can really be summed up in one word: charming. This tiny creperie is a romantic, dimly lit haven of creative crepes and cocktails. Try a prickly pear margarita with salmon crepe, or indulge in the classically Portland "Le Trash Blanc": a bacon cheddar crepe with a Pabst Blue Ribbon. Le Happy is also stocked with board games, so feel free to make a night of it. A quick walk will take you to the river, making Le Happy the perfect date spot.
