Columbus, Ga., is a mid-sized city of 185,000 situated on the beautiful banks of the Chattahoochee River. Columbus has a rich sports history and is home to the Columbus Cottonmouths hockey team, Columbus Lions football team, and boasts the 2006 Little League World Series champions. Whether attending Riverfest in April, observing nature at Oxbox Meadows, or enjoying a tour of the National Infantry Museum, you can refuel and recharge with a hearty steak dinner from the finest establishments in the Chattahoochee River valley area.

Ben's Chop House

Conveniently located near the Airport and Lake Somerset, Ben's Chop House offers hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood for dining in or carry-out. A full children's menu including angel hair pasta, beef tips, and fried shrimp is also offered. Dinners are served with a house salad and choice of one side. Ben's offers a huge variety of wines from its wine list. Bar area opens at 4 p.m. daily, while restaurant hours are from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 5 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Both restaurant and bar are closed on Sunday. A live jazz band every Friday evening after 7 p.m. adds to the elegant atmosphere of the steakhouse. Dinners range in price from $20 to $35 not including drinks or gratuity.

Fuji

Situated near shopping and Carmike Cinemas, Fuji Japanese Steakhouse was voted the top Japanese restaurant in Columbus in 2007. Fuji offers many lunch specials and a children's menu for ages 12 and under. The restaurant offers generous portions prepared by a professional Hibachi Chef right in front of you. Dinners include Japanese onion soup, salad, hibachi vegetables, fried rice and two grilled shrimp. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A full course dinner will cost about $20 per person not including drinks or gratuity.

Cowboy's

After a visit to the Thunder in the Valley air show, you may want to top off the evening in a more casual environment. Cowboy's Steak Saloon would fit that bill nicely. The authentic Western decor coupled with servers dressed as cowboys and cowgirls right down to the spurs on their boots will instill a feeling of the wild West. Wait times are normally less than 30 minutes, even during peak dinner hours. Cowboy's offers friendly service and a fun atmosphere and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Dinners are priced from $15 to $20 not including drink or gratuity.
