Allegro Papagayo
The international chain Occidental Hotels and Resorts operates this all-inclusive location at the northern part of the Nicoya peninsula. Food, beverages, lodging and limited sports are included in the price of the stay. The Allegro Papagayo is a large resort, with 14 low-rise buildings housing deluxe accommodations. Each room's linens and decor reflect a tropical feel, with bright colors to complement the Pacific Ocean views from each room. Rooms come with either one king or two queen beds, private bathrooms, televisions, in-room safes and minibars. Activities include beach and pool sports, kayaking, snorkeling and windsurfing, as well as a children's activity program. There are three restaurants--an international buffet and sit-down Italian and Mexican food--as well as three bars.

Barcelo Tambor Beach
The Barcelo Tambor Beach is located on the very Southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, adjacent to two large national nature reserves--Blanco National Park and the Curu Wildlife Reserve. The beachside resort has three room levels and all rooms have private bathrooms, minibars, in-room safes and satellite television. The Double room class has one king or two double beds. Junior and Master Suites have king beds in one room and a pair of double beds in a second room, with only the room size being the difference. The hotel's all-inclusive option includes three meals a day at the buffet restaurant, one dinner at the fine dining restaurants per person for each three days at the resort, and unlimited beverages.

European hotel chain RIU opened its location on Playa Matapalo in 2009. The 701-room location offers five different levels, ranging from rooms with double beds to two-room suites with and without Jacuzzi tubs. The entire hotel is all-inclusive, with food, liquor and activities included in the daily room rate. All rooms have private bathrooms with hair dryers, minibars with liquor dispensers, satellite televisions, irons and in-room safes capable of fitting a 15-inch laptop. Four restaurants on site include a buffet, a steakhouse and two themed restaurants--Asian and Italian. The five bars at the resort are open 24 hours a day, while activities on the beach including sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and sand sports.
