Hotels in Black Hawk, Colorado
Black Hawk, Colorado was founded as a gold mining town, and a different kind of gold mine saved the tiny mountain community from becoming a ghost town. The introduction of casino gambling in 1991 revitalized the town. In addition to the casinos, restaurants and hotels catering to visitors, Black Hawk offers a wealth of outdoor activities. Nearby Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests boast miles of hiking and cross country ski trails, kayakers and rafters can test their mettle on the waters of scenic Clear Creek Canyon, and wildlife watchers can photograph the bighorn sheep, elk and mule deer who frequently graze near the highway.

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa

Black Hawk's newest luxury hotel and casino boasts a rooftop pool and 7,000-square-foot spa. Sixty-four of Ameristar's 536 rooms are suites, with oversize glass windows affording panoramic views of the Rockies and huge soaking tubs perfect for easing the ache of a long hike or a day at the craps tables. All rooms feature free wireless Internet and refrigerators. The rooms are large--a minimum of 400 square feet--and the vibe is Las Vegas luxury.

The hotel has a lodge theme, with large wooden beams and slate floors. The casino downstairs from the hotel continues the western theme, in keeping with the hotel's setting. From the outside, the architecture resembles the mine tipples that once dotted the hillsides around Black Hawk.

The casino boasts 1,500 slot machines as well as numerous table games and poker tables. There's a large parking garage, four restaurants, a Starbucks and a bar.
