Gasparilla Inn and Cottages
The most opulent and expensive place to stay on Gasparilla Island is this historic 1913 beachfront resort. It has everything you'd expect or need on-site. There's a Pete Dye, 18-hole golf course, full-service spa, tennis club, several dining options, including the fancy main room restaurant (jackets required for men) and private beach club with a pool and stretch of sugar-white sand. Standard rooms and baths are smallish but brightly decked out with tropical colors and deluxe linens. Private cottages are roomier, with private porches. There's a marina behind the main inn where you can rent a boat or arrange fishing charters.

Innlet on the Waterfront
Pull your boat up to the dock on the Boca Grande Bayou and check in. This no-frills, mom-and-pop-style motel is nicely maintained, with a loyal guest following. There are 20 bayou-facing efficiencies with small kitchenettes, including a microwave, mini-refrigerator and two-burner stove top. There are also eight efficiencies (same kitchenette appliances) facing a small courtyard. The room décor is a bit old-fashioned and could use some updating, but they're very clean. The staff is friendly and efficient.
