Restaurants in Black Hawk, Colorado
The gold miners who founded the town of Black Hawk in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado ate plain fare at boarding houses and camp kitchens. In an area with a growing season of less than 90 days, fresh vegetables were a luxury and everything had to be brought into town by burro or on a peddler's back. Today's visitors to Black Hawk can choose from gourmet fare those miners only dreamed of, from hand-cut steaks to fresh seafood. After a day at the slot machines or gambling tables in one of Black Hawk's many casinos, a high-altitude hike in nearby Arapaho or Roosevelt National Forests or a raft trip through Clear Creek Canyon, you can find almost any food you crave at one of Black Hawk's many fine restaurants.

Timberline Grill, Ameristar Casino

Visit the Timberline Grill as much for the ambiance as for the food. The décor is heavy on carved wooden beams, glass and views of the Rocky Mountains. In the winter you can warm up by a huge fireplace. The menu features seafood such as cedar plank salmon and grilled tuna, pasta, salads and a variety of steaks and prime rib. There's also an extensive wine list. Save room for desert, including a chocolate avalanche cake that should be shared. Open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday.
