Taormina, Sicily Hotels
Since becoming part of the European Grand Tour in the mid-19th century, Taormina has been a top travel destination in Sicily. It has remnants of its Greek and Roman heritage, as well as new shops, restaurants and hotels. It sits on Sicily's east coast and offers visitors clear beaches, ancient sites and several nearby islands for tours. Fishing, swimming and diving are all popular past times, and the Mount Etna volcano is about a 45-minute drive for adventurous tourists. As one of Sicily's prime attractions, Taormina is home to some of the most spectacular resort hotels in Sicily.

San Domenico Palace Hotel

A spectacular luxury resort housed in a 15th century convent, the San Domenico features stunning views of Mount Etna and the Bay of Taormina. The hotel has four restaurants and meeting rooms suitable for any occasion. Two main buildings house the Garden Wing, which was the original convent and the other, added in 1896, is home to the Grand Hotel Wing. There are still several original frescoes, antique furnishings and ancient walls dating to the days the building was made. Guests have a full fitness center, spa and swimming pool at their disposal and there are 108 guestrooms. Pets are not allowed and all children under 3 years of age stay for free. With a room, visitors get 24-hour front desk service, a garden, terrace, safety deposit box and air conditioning. Swimming, fishing, horseback riding and diving tours can be arranged.
