Ace Hotel
Visitors looking for a classic downtown experience will struggle to find a more fun, uniquely Portland hotel than the Ace Hotel. Located just a few blocks away from Powell's City of Books (the largest bookstore in the country), several movie theaters and the first Thursday art walk, guests at the Ace Hotel will probably never be in their rooms at all. Too bad, because the Ace offers beautifully furnished bedrooms with hand-painted murals and city views. There's even a Stumptown Coffee shop attached to the lobby, which boasts cozy couches and a photo booth machine.

Jupiter Hotel
The Jupiter Hotel, in northeast Portland, is kind of a dive, but in a good way. The biggest perk of the Jupiter Hotel is that it is connected to the ultra hip Doug Fir Lounge, one of Portland's most beloved music venues/bars. Visitors who don't mind small rooms and the noise of other partying guests will enjoy this hotel, which is also close to Union Jack's strip club and a handful of galleries and vintage shops.

McMenamins Kennedy School
The McMenamins Kennedy School is one of Portland's most unusual hotels. Originally an elementary school, the Kennedy School was remodeled and opened as an all in one hotel/movie theater/bar/restaurant. Guests can drink at the "honor room" or "detention room" bar, see a free movie in the assembly hall and eat dinner at the courtyard restaurant. There's also an outdoor soaking pool, perfect for spring and autumn afternoons.
