You can get a whiff of the what is perhaps the most famous attraction in the city, the natural sulphur hot springs, before getting off I-70 into Glenwood Springs. The Glenwood Springs Pool, Spa of the Rockies, offers the entire family a luxurious hot spring bath that will soothe your bones after a day of hiking, skiing or road biking. There are two large pools, each with different temperatures, to jump into. Be sure to bring your quarters for the machine-operated jet streams in the larger of the pools. Open all day, indulge in late afternoon and watch the sunset over the mountains.

Glenwood Canyon Bike Trail
Cruise, cycle or trek down the Glenwood Canyon Bike Trail. The ride offers spectacular vistas of the Colorado River, the Glenwood Canyon and the infamous Rockies. Take the shuttle to the end of the trail for a 16-mile trip or plan on riding both legs of the trail for 32 miles. Bring your swimsuit in the summer for a dip in the pools along the river. Rental bikes are also available.

Hanging Lake
Looking for a bit more of an strenuous adventure? Hike the mile and a half up to Hanging Lake, a rigorous climb with views well-worth the physical exertion. The ascent takes about an hour to get up and the trail is a bit rocky, but the secluded paths among the trees and grand finale vista near the lake are phenomenal.
