Michigan Hotels With Indoor Water Parks

Michigan Hotels With Indoor Water Parks
Water lovers should have no problem finding Michigan hotels with indoor water parks. Michigan is a water wonderland that provides access to four Great Lakes, 11,000 inland lakes and 36,000 miles of rivers and streams, and more. According to the Department of Natural Resources, travelers are never more than a half-hour from a state park, forest campground, recreation area or trail system. Adventurers can hike the 200 mile Shore-to-Shore Trail that links Lake Huron to Lake Michigan or trek on the North Country National Scenic Trail, the longest hiking trail in the United States, then wind down at one of the many Michigan hotels with an indoor water park.

Boyne Mountain

Boyne Mountain functions as a ski resort in winter, but the slopes transform into a vast network of mountain bike trails in summer. Not to mention, Boyne offers some of the best golf and spa amenities in northern Michigan. The resort's Swiss-Austrian styled accommodations include the upscale Grand Mountain Lodge, the historic Clock Tower Lodge and several ski-in ski-out condo options. The resort boasts the largest indoor water park in Michigan, which is connected to Grand Mountain Lodge. At 88,000 square feet, the Avalanche Bay Indoors Water Park houses 11 attractions in a winter village setting. Guests hang 10 at the Rip Zone, a surf simulator, or scale the South Wall, a climbable waterfall structure. The park also offers casual dining at the Snack Shack and drinks at the Apres Ski Pub.

Double JJ Ranch and Golf Resort

As a former dude ranch in western Michigan, the Double JJ Ranch and Golf Resort may not sound like a water lover's dream, but it has a stocked pond. Fishermen can bring a rod, reel and bait and lull away the hours at Little Wildcat Lake while the kids keep busy at the outdoor pool and petting zoo. The resort hosts the Rothbury Festival in summer, a four-day music event that focuses on sustainable living. The resort's accommodations celebrate a frontier theme where guests choose from the Lofts Hotel, the Homestead Condominiums, the Thoroughbred Suite and the Bunkhouse in summer. Even the Gold Rush Water Park carries the frontier theme with gold mine inspired attractions like the Miner's Plunge tubing ride and the Lost Mine water fort. The resort claims a taller water-slide than those found in any other Michigan hotels with indoor water parks. Check the resort's website for ongoing package deals.

Holiday Inn Express

Holiday Inn Express is just off I-23 in southeast Michigan. The three-story structure offers 163 wilderness-themed suites and plenty of water fun at Splash Universe. The highlights include the Water Fun Adventure Tree House Jungle Gym with its 500 gallon splash bucket and the Goldmine Water Slide, which takes riders outdoors before sluicing them back indoors for a pool landing. Travelers should check the website for package deals and the water park's schedule as the park reduces the hours of operation in winter. Guests can round out their stay with a bite to eat at the Treehouse Pub and Grub Restaurant, hop next door to Cabellas, a 225,000-square-foot fishing and hiking sports outfitter or take a quick 20 minute drive to Wm. C. Sterling State Park at Lake Erie.
