Roc's Blackfront Restaurant opened up in the early 1900s in Charleston, Ill. It was one of the most popular restaurants located downtown and also was a hot spot for illegal gambling. One daily special includes a build-your-own-burger with all the fixings such as lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. You can choose your own side to go along with it. Dinner specials include baby back ribs, meatloaf and steak. Full menu items also list a selection of seafood, pasta and sandwiches. Specialty drinks served at the Blackfront include single malt whiskeys of Scotland.

Stovepipe Grill & Smokehouse

Stovepipe Grill & Smokehouse's motto states that it is the "Best Darn BBQ You've Ever Tasted." It is located at the Lincoln Springs Resort in Charleston. Alongside the restaurant is also an 18-hole miniature golf course and a computer game center called "The Game Nexus." There are also banquet and catering services offered. The menu offers a variety of selections to choose from such as appetizers, barbecue plates and platters, prime and barbecue ribs, seafood, desserts, double-fisted burgers and a kids menu.

What's Cookin'

What's Cookin' restaurant was established in 1980. It is located just seven blocks north of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. It is a full-family service restaurant that offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. It also offers fresh-baked muffins, cinnamon rolls and scones daily. The breakfast menu offers your choice of eggs, toast, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Order your choice of appetizers that include super nachos, tostada chips or breaded chicken strips. House specialties menu items consist of gyros, grilled chicken and chicken salad. To satisfy a full stomach, one can order from the dinner menu that includes selections such as a catfish dinner, gyro dinner, and chicken strips. There are also plenty of soups, sandwiches, burgers and salads to order, too.
